War is in the Air originates from field drawings made during repeated visits to the Baltic coast.
I spent long periods observing and drawing seabirds, focusing on their movement, structure, and behaviour. These drawings were not made as sketches for specific works, but as a way of studying form through direct observation. This project became part of a longer process: many of these observations later informed the structure and plastic language of my monotype work.
A selected group was later developed into a postcard series. The addition of colour shifted them into a different context, where the material began to suggest a more tense and compressed atmosphere.
